KARACHI: Fresh medical examination has determined that the prime suspect in Shahzeb Khan murder case, Shahrukh Jatoi, is over the legal age of 18 years, the media reported on Saturday. The age of the main acccused in the case has been a matter of much debate and controversy recently. In fact, birth and academic records of the accused prove that he is actually over the age of 19.

 

According to the media, a seven-member team of doctors today concluded its findings in a sealed report to be presented in an Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi on February 11.

 

Earlier, police had provided required pertinent documents to the team of doctors to determine the real age of Shahrukh Jatoi.

 

Jatoi's birth certificate states his date of birth as December 27, 1993, according to which the suspect is over 18 years, which is the legal age.

 

An earlier medical report declared that Jatoi was underage, following which the main accused was sent to a juvenile prison.

 

Last week, the ATC rejected ordered another medical eaxamination of the suspect's hair and and ossification tests of the teeh just a day after the Supreme Court said attempts were being made to declare Jatoi a juvenile.

 

It may be mentioned that Shahzeb Khan, a 20-year-old son of a police official, was gunned down on December 25 last year in Karachi's Defence Housing Society.

 

Within hours of the incident, Shahrukh Jatoi had fled to the UAE, from where he was later arrested.

 

Other suspected accomplices in the murder, Siraj Talpur, his brother Sajjad Talpur and their cook Ghulam Murtaza Lashari, are already under arrest after police rounded them up from different towns in Sindh.
