Govt firm on holding polls on time: Sindh Governor

This he said while talking to a group of visiting Ambassadors and High Commissioners based in Islamabad, who called on him here on Thursday.

 

The Governor said that the Election Commission is an independent institution and it has full authority for holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

 

He said that some elements are trying to disturb law and order situation of the financial hub of the country but the industrialists and business community is well aware of the intention of such elements and facing it with courage as challenge.

 

The Governor said that the majority of the Pakistani nation is moderate and balanced and asked the diplomats to highlight the soft image of the country in the world as they can do this easily.

 

He said that Pakistan is a front line ally in war against terror and facing many challenges due to the situation in this region. It has also suffered a setback in foreign investment for the same reason.

 

The Governor said the government is striving for economic development and progress despite many challenges.

 

He urged the envoys to convince the investors of their countries for investing in Sindh province, which is rich in natural resources.

 

The envoys talking on the occasion said that Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and peaceful atmosphere here is a must for investment in the city.

 

They appreciated the historical places in the province and stressed the need for effective publicity of these places world over to promote tourism.
