NAB chairman writes letter to President over official's suicide

It has been learnt that Faisal was concerned over the role of the Supreme Court in the Rental Power Projects (RPPs) case.

Bokhari has stated in the letter that NAB did not have sufficient time at its disposal to implement the apex court's directives, and that a reference could not be filed without the chairman’s approval.

The letter also states that the chairman was being maligned by the media.

The media may also have a had a role to play in achieving a stay order over its taxes, the letter added.

It may be recalled that Faisal, who was investigating the Rs22 billion RPP scandal, died three days after the apex court ordered the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and 15 others in connection with the scam.

The official was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the Federal Lodges in Islamabad on January 18.

The hearing is underway at the Supreme Court.
