Ishrat's presentation

19 Jun, 2020

LETTER: How unfortunate it is that the federal cabinet has rejected Dr Ishrat Husain's presentation on factors impeding the process of attracting able professionals to government organizations and departments on seemingly non-cogent grounds that the former governor of State Bank of Pakistan has said nothing new in his proposals. This news must have caused disappointment and pain to him. Given his vast experience in the fields of economics and civil service, Dr Husain has indeed worked harder to help the government bring about the required changes in the governance structure.

He has certainly highlighted the factors that are causing hurdles to the process of inducting reputed professionals into the system. Having said that, I must congratulate Mr. Husain for doing an important job in the greater interest of this nation and its future. He must now admit the fact that Imran Khan's government is hardly different from its predecessors'.
