THE RUPEE: All-round loss

KARACHI: Pakistan On Thursday, Pakistan Rupee lost value against USD in interbank market while also falling in open market against major currencies typically covered in this section.

Against Euro, PKR lost 50 paisas for buying and one rupee for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 184.50 and 186.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 30 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 44.70 and 45 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 30 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43.70 and 44 respectively.

According to currency dealers, the short supply phenomenon of the greenback prevailed throughout the trading session which helped its significant appreciation for buying and selling at Rs 166.20 and Rs 167.30 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 165.00 and Rs 166.40 respectively.

Similarly, the local currency also followed the suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 205.60 and Rs 208.00 against the Wednesday's closing trend of Rs 205.00 and Rs 206.60 respectively, they added.

The dollar opened at Rs166.25(buying) and Rs 166.35(selling) against last rate of Rs165.25(buying) and Rs 165.35(selling).

It closed at Rs166.25(buying) and Rs 166.35(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold remained Rs. 98,600(selling) and Rs 98,200(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
