Cop opens fire, injures doctor at NICVD

*Police says Kamran is a CTD official and is suffering from mental illness

(Karachi) A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official shot at and injured a doctor in National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), media has reported.

The accused has been identified as Kamran alias Kami and the victim as Dr Fahad. The police said that the cop is suffering from mental illness.

Soon after the incident, panic ensued at NICVD's emergency ward. A bullet shot from Kamran’s pistol hit Dr Fahad in his leg. The bullet went through one leg and pierced the other as well, leaving him injured in both legs.

Dr Fahad was shifted to Jinnah Hospital where the victim was immediately given first aid while Kamran fled the scene in an ambulance. However, he was caught by citizens and the guards of the emergency ward, who chased after him. The accused has been handed over to the police.

The police said that the injured doctor's statement is yet to be recorded and legal action will be taken after it.
