MILAN: Italy's Treasury said on Thursday it had bought back 2 billion euros ($2.25 billion) over three government bonds maturing in 2020.
Rome repurchased 1.06 billion euros of a BTP bond expiring in October 2020, 253 million euros of a BTP bond maturing in November 2020, and 687 million euros of an inflation-linked BTP Italia expiring on October 2020.
The Treasury uses transactions such as buybacks and exchange auctions to smooth the redemption profile of Italy's debt.
