ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office said Tuesday that harassment and threats to Pakistani diplomats and staff members of the High Commission in New Delhi had become a daily routine.

"Some form of harassment and threats is a daily occurrence for our diplomats and staff members in New Delhi," Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said, while responding to media queries about reports that Pakistan's High Commission in New Delhi had virtually been besieged by the Indian security forces to harass and intimidate the diplomatic staff and other officials of the High Commission.

The spokesperson said that was an ongoing situation to intimidate and to restrict the diplomatic staff and other officials of the High Commission from carrying out their official responsibilities.

Last month, India expelled two staff members of the Pakistan's High Commission in New Delhi by declaring them persona non grata, "for indulging in activities incompatible with their status as members of a diplomatic mission."

However, Pakistan strongly rejected the baseless Indian allegations, and called New Delhi's action a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and diplomatic norms.
