During proceedings, the railways secretary told the court that 76,000 people are working in PR. He said that 142 passenger trains and 120 goods trains re being run by the department.

The secretary maintained that in wake of coronavirus outbreak, only 43 passengers trains are running these days.

The chief justice remarked that railways has hired a lot more people than it requires. "You are unable to run the railways. A train or aircraft accident is no joke. The railway system has become corrupt,” the CJP stated.
