Per capita income witnesses decline

ISLAMABAD: The per capita income in Pakistan has witnessed a decline during the first nine months of the 2019-2020 from $1,497.3 to $1,355, the Pakistan Economic Survey 2019-2020 released here on Thursday revealed. According to the economic survey, the country's per capita income was revised down from $1,497.3 to $1,455.1 for the entire fiscal year 2018-2019.

The performance of public investment during the first nine months of 2019 when Asad Umar was the finance minister performed better than when the entire year's data was compiled.

Public investment as a percent of the GDP (at market prices) for the first nine months of 2019 was negative 7.9 percent as per the Survey 2018-2019; however, the Survey 2019-2020 gave the annual rate of investment at negative 21.6 percent.

Aggregate market capitalization in the first nine months of 2019 was negative 9.2 percent with the PSX index at negative 7.8 percent in last year's Economic Survey, while the current year's survey gives the statistics of negative 18.4 and negative 13.8 percent.
