China central bank adjusts open market operation hours from June 12

SHANGHAI: China's central bank said on Thursday it will adjust hours for daily open market operations from Friday to strengthen expectation management.

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) said in an online statement that it would issue announcement at 9 a.m. (0100 GMT) each day if no operation was conducted on that day.

The daily operation timing will be adjusted to 9 a.m. to 9:20 a.m., with auction result published at 9:20 a.m. when there are operations that have taken place on the day.

The current time for open market operations is 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

The PBOC said the new time would "promote a better connection between open market operation timing and financial market operations", according to the statement.
