PM offers to help India, share Pakistan's cash transfer program to cope with coronavirus

Prime Minister Imran Khan offered on Thursday to help India and share the government's successful cash transfer program at a time when households in India are coping with lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet, PM quoted a study which found that 34% of households across India will not be able to survive for more than a week without assistance. The study was titled 'How Are Indian Households Coping Under the Covid-19 Lockdown? 8 Key Findings'.

It was carried out by experts at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago and the Mumbai-based Centre for Monitoring the Indian Economy.

The PM said he was ready to help India and share Pakistan's cash transfer program which is lauded internationally for its transparency.

In another tweet, the PM said so far Rs. 120 billion have been transferred in nine weeks to over 10 million families by his government during coronavirus pandemic.
