PML-N's Shehbaz Sharif tests positive for coronavirus

Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has isolated himself at home, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said. Aurangzeb said their leader tested positive following appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Shehbaz appeared before NAB on June 9 in cases pertaining to assets beyond know source of income. However, before his appearance he had requested the bureau to question him via Skype as he was a cancer patient and was afraid he might get infected with the virus.

However, NAB refused and summoned him. On his arrival, a large number of PML-N supporters had gathered outside the office to chant slogans in support of the party leader.

Shehbaz now joins his party members in the list of those who have contracted the disease. Aurangzeb, former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal are some of the leaders who have tested positive for the COVID-19.
