NAIROBI: The Kenyan shilling was firm on Monday due to stable dollar demand from importers and an increase in hard currency reserves at the central bank, which boosted sentiment.

At 0838 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 106.00/20 per dollar, unchanged from Friday's closing rate.

Kenya's usable foreign exchange reserves stood at $9.261 billion, equivalent to 5.56 months of import cover as of June 4, up from $8.331 a week earlier, the Central bank said in its weekly bulletin.
