Pakistan's Covid-19 tally overtakes China's

ISLAMABAD: At least 4,668 new coronavirus cases were recorded in last 24 hours across the country including 20 officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari and his family. 82 coronavirus-related deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide tally to 1,770.

The federal government has announced that a NCOC team comprising specialists/management experts will visit various areas of the country to assist local administrations in assessment/needs/requirement.

Dr Faisal Sultan, focal person for the prime minister for COVID-19 will lead the team.

As many as 901 corona patients are in critical conditions. Corona cases in Punjab stood at 31,104 after 607 cases were reported in 24 hours, the Khyber Pakhtunkwa with 500 more cases taking the tally to 11,373.

In Sindh, 32,910 corona cases were reported including 555 more patients in the last 24 hours.

With 51 more cases, Balochistan's tally is now 5,224.

So far, 824 is the number of cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 285 in the Azad Jammu Kashmir.

On Thursday, the total number of corona patients reached to 3,544 in ICT.

Executive Director Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) also briefed a special session of the NCOC.

The committee was informed that PIMS has 26 ventilators, which are meeting the needs.

According to the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, 115 persons were fined for not wearing a mask in public places, whereas 83 shops, 22 industrial units were sealed, and 42 transporters were fined for violation of SOPs.

The Gilgit-Baltistan government fined 907 persons, sealed 440 shops and 13 industrial units for violations of SOPs.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government sealed 525 shops, 37 industrial units, and fined 3,553 persons over violation of SOPs.
