CDWP approves 7 projects, recommends one project to ECNEC

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved seven projects at the cost of Rs24 billion and recommended one project worth Rs11.35 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for consideration.

The CDWP met with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan in the chair, here on Wednesday.

Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan, senior officials from the Planning Commission and the federal ministries/divisions also participated in the meeting, while representatives from provincial governments participated through video conference.

Projects related to energy, environment, governance and the ICT were presented in the meeting.

Three projects related to energy were presented in the meeting.

First project, "Additional Sources of Supply to Jaranwala Road Grid Station" worth Rs5,787.32 million, second project, "30.4 MW Jagran-1 Hydropower project, District Neelum , AJK" worth Rs4,306.875 million, and third project, "Strengthening, Up-gradation and ISO certification of Karachi Laboratories Complex at HDIP Operations Officer, Karachi" worth Rs440.812 million were approved in the CDWP meeting.

A project related to environment, "Installation of Weather Surveillance Radar at Sukkur in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan" worth Rs2,522 million was approved in the meeting.

A project related to governance, "Pakistan Single Window" worth Rs11.074 billion was referred to the ECNEC.

The main objective of the project is to facilitate trade, simplification and integration of regulatory authority's process/system for reducing barriers of cross-border trade-related activities without compromising required control.

A projects related to the ICT were presented in the meeting, "Blended Virtual Education Project for Knowledge Economy" worth Rs5,990.26 million was approved by the CDWP.

One project presented by the Ministry of KA & GB, "Rehabilitation of Affected Population Residing along LoC Phase-1" worth Rs3,614.980 million was approved by the CDWP.

Another project presented by Ministry of Climate Change, "Capacity Building on Water Quality Monitoring SDG 6" worth Rs1,275.913 million was also approved in the meeting.
