PIA plane crash: 92 victims identified, says Sindh CM

(Karachi) Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that 92 bodies of ill-fated Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK- 8303 have been identified, media reported on Wednesday.

The CM said that 89 bodies have been handed over to the family members of the crash victims. He added that 53 victims were identified through DNA testing while tests of three bodies are being conducted again for verification.

Murad mentioned that eight bodies are still in Chhipa and Edhi morgues.

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight crashed near Karachi's Model Colony area killing 99 passengers. The flight PK-8303 was enroute from Lahore to Karachi.

The plane, A320 Airbus, was carrying 91 passengers and eight crew members and was scheduled to land at Jinnah International Airport when it developed some technical fault. A conversation which was aired on media channels transpired the flight captain told the control tower that "We have lost engines" and he is going for belly landing. Soon after the said conversation, the control tower lost contact with the pilot.

Several homes and vehicles were also destroyed in the incident. Only two people survived the crash incident.
