NAIROBI: The Kenyan shilling strengthened on Tuesday, supported by inflows from horticulture exports amid muted dollar demand from oil importers, traders said.

At 0852 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 106.50/70 per dollar, compared with 106.80/107.00 at Friday's close.

Kenyan markets were closed on Monday for a national holiday.

"There is a bit of strength in the market compared to last week, a bit of inflows showing across the board, there are sectors which are active at the moment, it might be flori- horticulture, demand looks a bit muted," said a trader from one commercial bank.
