1148 children have tested positive, while infection rate in women has increased in Sindh: Wahab

  • Wahab said some of the children under the age of 10 were also among those who succumbed to deadly virus.

Sindh spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said on Tuesday that so far more than a 1000 children have been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Addressing a presser, the senator said the notion that the virus cannot infect children is wrong as 1,148 children under the age of 10 have been infected in the province. He said some of the children under the age of 10 were also among those who succumbed to the deadly virus.

While speaking about women, Wahab said in the past 10 days, the number of female patients of the novel coronavirus have also increased. He further said before, 33 patients out of every 100 were women.

"Now, the percentage of women being infected has gone up to 28.5 percent in the past 10 days," the PPP senator said.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Sindh have jumped to 31,086. While the death toll has reached 526.
