(Karachi) Sindh Transport Minister Syed Awais Shah said on Tuesday that the provincial government has allowed intra-city public transport and online ride-hailing services to resume operation from tomorrow with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

As per the SOPs, the transporters will not be allowed to board extra passengers, while it will be compulsory to wear masks and clean hands with sanitizers.

All the buses will run from designated stations and only two people will be allowed to sit in a ride-hailing service. However, in case of emergency, three passengers will be allowed to sit.

Besides, online bus services will be allowed to resume on a seat by seat basis. Similarly, transporters who have air conditioning in their vehicles will only allow one passenger on one seat

The minister said that a committee has been formed to monitor and inspect whether the SOPs are being followed. He warned that if SOPs are not followed and coronavirus cases increase, the permissions will be revoked.
