00-13KARACHI: The larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Friday expressed dissatisfaction over the reports, submitted by Governemnt of Sindh on Abbas Town tragedy.

 

The bench in its interim order on suo motu notice directed the provincial government to submit a fresh report on the issue within three days.

 

The bench noted that no serious measures were taken for the implementation of its earlier directives for improvement of law and order in the city.

 

The bench also directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for rehabilitation of the affectees of Abbas Town.

 

The Commissioner Karachi apprised the bench that compensation cheques are ready for distribution among the victims of the tragedy.

 

The bench also called for intelligence reports pertaining to Abbas Town bomb explosion.

 

Taking notice of slow disposal of terrorism related cases, the bench directed the authorities concerned to increase the numbers of Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) in Karachi.

 

The bench adjourned the proceedings till March 21.
