15nmnmnmPESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Arbab Ayub Jan said here Saturday that negligence in projects associated with agriculture development would not be tolerated as more than 75 percent of our population was directly attached with agro-based industry.

Presiding over a high-level meeting in Civil Secretariat, he said that these projects were initiated for giving impetus to agriculture sector and vigilant monitoring was necessary to achieve the desired goals.

The meeting among others was also attended by Additional Secretary Agriculture, Muhammad Israr Khan and Director Generals of Water Management and Research departments.

The Minister expressed dissatisfaction over slow pace of work on various development projects and directed officials concerned to properly utilize department vehicles and pay frequent visits to fields for improving productivity.

He also directed Additional Secretary to devise a plan for effective monitoring of each and every vehicle of all projects and present a report in this regard within a week.

Arbab Ayub stressed the need for introducing tissue culture for saving time and increasing productivity in agriculture, adding government would support such steps and also provide necessary assistance.

He directed Director General Research to launch high breed seed technology of maize in Malakand and Hazara divisions and bring more land under cultivation for growing out-of-season vegetables.
