Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan has defended Mohammad Hafeez over the selection for one-day series (ODI) against Ireland and England. In the recent Test series, Hafeez performed poorly with the bat in the first three Tests against England, leading to his omission from the final Test.
“We cannot overlook Hafeez’ overall services for the team. Younis too failed in first three Tests, but he came back strongly and struck a match-winning double century,” Khan told the media.
Hafeez was dropped from the final Test for his failures, he said, adding that selectors should be asked about the selection criteria. To a question, he said that there was no grouping in the team.
Mohammad Hafeez, who miserably failed in the Test series and Khan, said that he is a senior player and has been selected for batting at number three or four.
Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hired Carl Crowe, a UK-based bowling coach, for Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez’s upcoming bowling action test. PCB is optimistic to get Hafeez cleared before the start of ODI series against England.
