imageBULAWAYO: Zimbabwe's spinners gave their side a chance of a shock victory as they bowled South Africa out for 257 in the second of three one-day internationals on Tuesday.

After Proteas openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock made another promising start, spin trio Prosper Utseya, John Nyumbu and Sean Williams took wickets at regular intervals to dismiss the Proteas in 49.4 overs.

On a drier surface than the one used in South Africa's 93-run victory on Sunday, it was no surprise that the spinners had success as they found significant turn.

Nyumbu was the first to strike as he bowled Amla to end a 47-run stand for the first wicket, and then had De Kock caught at cover for 38.

When AB de Villiers was run out in bizarre fashion by wicketkeeper Richmond Mutumbami, South Africa had slid to 60 for three after being put in to bat by Zimbabwe.

Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy revived the innings with a partnership of 69, before Utseya bowled Duminy for 36 and had Du Plessis caught for 55.

South Africa still looked set for a big total when David Miller began to find the boundary, hitting two huge sixes, but his innings was cut short when he was controversially given out lbw for 45 as he advanced down the pitch to left-arm seamer Brian Vitori.

Although Wayne Parnell and Kyle Abbott boosted the Proteas score with some breezy hitting, left-arm spinner Williams returned to grab two wickets at the death and return figures of 2 for 37.

Meanwhile Utseya finished with 2 for 39 from his 10 overs, and Nyumbu took 2 for 44.
