Shadab Khan: I wanted to become a fast bowler
Pakistan latest spin sensation Shadab Khan, is quickly rising among the ranks in the cricketing circuit. The leggie was crucial in Pakistan win against India, when he picked up two wickets including the dangerous Yuvraj Singh at the finals of ICC Champions Trophy.
However, Shadab did not begin his cricketing as a spinner, as the youngster was more interested in becoming a fast bowler then a leggie.
“I started off as a fast bowler during the initial phase of my club cricket. However, my club president urged me to become a leg spinner and that’s how I switched to leg spin,” said Shadab, quoted BBC Urdu.
The Mianwali born, added that picking up the wickets of England batsman Joe Root and India’s Yuvraj Singh was his best moments in the ICC Champions Trophy.
“Joe Root is among world’s best batsman along with Yuvraj, so I enjoyed picking up their wickets,” he said.
Shadab informed that he considers Pakistan spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed as his mentor, while he follows Australian skipper Steve Smith as his ideal.
