imageAfter a disappointing show by Pakistan cricket team against Australia in the Test series, which the visitors lost 3-0; former cricketers and experts are calling for the replacement of skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

However, Pakistans former captain and batting legend Javed Miandad has come out in support of the embattled skipper, and has blamed the system for being unsuccessful to produce any credible replacement for the 42-year old.

"The problem is we don't have anyone to replace Misbah," Miandad told The Associated Press on Saturday. "This shows how weak our cricketing structure is."

Misbah-ul-Haq has been Pakistan's most successful Test captain with 24 victories from 53 matches, losing 18 and drawing 11. It was under his tenure that Pakistan became the number one Test side for the first time in its cricketing

"Everywhere in the world there's a system in place and players come and go, but unfortunately we didn't adopt any such system," Miandad said.

Miandad was of the view that the PCB has not chalked out Misbahs succession. "Why are we now asking Misbah to leave? Have we prepared any replacement for him? Unfortunately the answer is no and now it's entirely upto Misbah to decide himself when he wants to quit."

"That's the unfortunate part of Pakistan cricket," Miandad said. "Misbah knows it very well that there's nobody who could lead the Test side and that's why he has not yet made up his mind."

Misbahs latest assignment however, would be leading his Islamabad United in the upcoming Pakistan Super League to be held in United Arab Emirates in March.
