South African star batsman AB de Villiers has revealed that he learnt how to perform the sweep shot by watching the veteran Younis Khan.
According to media reports, AB de Villiers said, “I just make sure I get as low as possible. I don’t like the ball to beat me under the bottom of my bat while I am sweeping. So, I always try and sweep it like a broom; I learnt that from Younis Khan, the Pakistani batsman.”
He further said, “I mean he gets his bat very very low. He doesn’t mind getting out to a top-edge but he doesn’t want to get LBW or bowled.”
AB de Villiers is one of the greatest batsmen of this generation and he is very famous in hitting back shots. He is a dangerous batsman and there is no doubt about him.
However, Younis Khan has been a brilliant servant to Pakistan cricket over the last 15 years. He is Pakistan’s third highest run-getter in Test cricket. Younis Khan currently holds the record of most centuries in Tests for Pakistan as well as he is the only Pakistani to score Test hundreds against all nine Test playing nations.
