ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday delayed the indictment of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali in a contempt of court case.
The three-member SC bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, cousel for the Sindh government Shahid Anwar Bajwa told the court that the IGP gad not submitted the apology due to court's observation.
Advocate Irfan Qadir also appeared before the court and stated that he would represent the IGP Sindh in the case. The IGP had filed an appeal against the contempt of court proceedings and the court could not indict his client till the decision on the application, he pleaded.
Shahid Anwar said that the Sindh police would be demoralized due to the indictment of IGP Sindh.
The bench remarked that the court could not accept any illegal step.
The court dismissed Shahid Anwar's plea to become prosecutor in the case and adjourned hearing of the case till February 17.
