ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Textile Industry and the WWF-Pakistan here on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote proper picking procedures and better ginning practices among the cotton growers and ginners.
Joint Director of Pakistan Cotton Standard Institute (PCSI), Liaqat Ali Khan and Director Sustainable Agriculture Program (SAP), Arif Hamid Mahkdum signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
According the agreement, SAP, WWF-Pakistan and Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute under the project sustainable cotton production in Pakistan's cotton Ginning SMEs" will jointly undertake activities to promote proper picking procedures and better ginning practices.
PCSI in collaboration with SAP, WWF-Pakistan will also promote the implementation of cotton standardization system, classing, grading and quality control measures for the enhancement of cotton quality in the country.
This would have direct impact and immediate bearings on the entire value addition chain till the final made-ups thus providing substantial financial boost to the national economy.
