ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said the provision of basic necessities of life to people living in all areas of Gilgit Baltistan was a priority of the PML-N government.
He was talking to a delegation of the PML-N Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) office bearers, that called on him here at the PM House.
The Prime Minister, however, stressed that the government of Gilgit Baltistan must work for promoting harmony across sectarian and political lines and perform functions with transparency based only on merit, as envisioned in the manifesto of PML-N.
He congratulated Governor GB for peaceful holding of the Legislative Assembly elections in the area.
The Prime Minister assured that all resources of GB will be spent on the welfare of its people.
Matters relating to the formation of government in GB also came under discussion.
Nawaz Sharif directed that important matters aimed at providing maximum benefit to the people of the area must be prioritized and implemented with strict timelines.
Federal government would provide all necessary help in this regard, he added.
The delegation told the Prime Minister that people of GB are looking forward to his visit to the area.
They apprised the Prime Minister that people of GB are happy over the China Pakistan Economic Corridor which will transform the area by creating increased job opportunities and bring prosperity to the people.
Other members of the delegation included Hafeez ur Rahman, President PML-N GB; Haji Akbar Taban and Shams Mir.
Governor GB, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Special Assistant to PM on Political Affairs, Dr. Asif Kirmani, Secretary to PM, Javed Aslam and Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, Siddiq al Farooq were present in the meeting.
