KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the support price of wheat which was Rs 1250 per 40 kilogram last year has been increased further to Rs 1300 this year.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the Chief Minister said that Sindh government had increased the support price of wheat from Rs 1200 to Rs 1250 per 40 kg last year. "This year, again we have increased the support price further to Rs 1300 to encourage the growers to cultivate more wheat," he said.
The government is providing certified seed to the growers to get good yield, he said.
"Sindh government at its Sakrand Research Centre had produced a new variety of wheat which was named after party's slain Chairperson Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as The Benazir wheat variety seed." Last year over 80 percent growers cultivated the new seed variety and produced 80 maunds per acre which is unprecedented in Pakistan, the CM added.
