FAISALABAD: Textile exporters have demanded the approval of new txtile policy for redrassal of the exporters' problems.
Expressing concern over the delay in the approval of textile policy here Friday, Sohail Pasha, chairman and Rizwan Riaz, vice chairman of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) demanded that new five-year textile policy should include financial and industrial facilities, remove hurdles and ensure the provision of necessary incentives to enhance the textile exports to USD 26 billion by 2019.
They said that textile policy should be progressive and realistic as GSP plus trade incentives had opened a big window of opportunity for Pakistan to not only push up its textile exports to the world but also produce a trade surplus to help the government overcome its trade deficit.
Rizwan Riaz urged the government to resolve the crisis as challenges like energy crisis, high interest rate, liquidity crunch, and financial stress is holding this mainstay of national economy back from growing up to full potential.
PTEA leaders demanded that Government should concentrate upon some truly visionary steps and address genuine concerns of the industry with innovation and extraordinary solutions in the upcoming textile policy.
