imageATTOCK: The 69th Independence Day was celebrated across the district with full patriotism, zeal and zest while the markets, public offices, schools and houses were decorated with national flags and buntings.

According to details, various functions were held to celebrate the day and main function was held at Zila Council where State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad was the chief guest.

DCO Attock Chaudhry Habibullah, ADC Kinza Murtaza, DPO Syed Nadeem Hussain, Distt Officer Planning Javed Bhatti, TMO Sardar Aftab Khan, District President PML(N) Javed Bajori, notables of the area and students from different schools were also present.

On the occasion students delivered speeches highlighted the importance and value of independence, sang national songs and presented tableaus.

Addressing the function State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs said, we must value independence as our forefathers rendered sacrifices and now we have to retain and maintain it at all cost, we should serve our homeland with sincerity and dedication.

He said, we should be thankful to Allah for having the blessing of independence. He said those who led the life of slavery can better understand the difference between freedom and slavery.

He said, the sun arose on 14th August will never set, ups and downs are part of life. He said at present the govt and defence forces are facing different challenges but these challenges will be tackled wisely.

Minorities are also enjoying all fundamental rights and full religious freedom, it is high time to take practical steps inspite of mere criticism, adding he said.

He emphasized upon the youth to play their role in making Pakistan a developed country while the incumbent govt under the dynamic leadership of premier Nawaz Sharif is taking all steps for the development of Pakistan. While China Pakistan Economic Corridor project worth 46 billion dollars is another mile stone which will bring a revolution in Pakistan as well as in the region.

Similar functions were held in Jand, Pidigheb and other tehsils were also held. In Jand MNA Malik Aetbar Khan and in Pindigheb Provincial Minister Chaudhry Sher Ali was the chief guest.
