imageKARACHI: President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra has said that the cruel incident in Peshawar has terribly wounded the entire nation but it cannot deter their morale and resolve against terrorism.

Condemning the terrorists strike on a school in Peshawar at a candlelight memorial organized by KCCI last evening he said the incident that resulted in the martyrdom of 146 people including more than 132 children has turned the Pakistani nation all the more united against cowardly acts of terrorists.

Offering his heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent children, KCCI president said the entire business community of Karachi fully supports the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.

"It, along with similar measures across the country, must continue till the elimination of last terrorist from Pakistani soils," he said.

Iftikhar Vohra appreciated political parties for setting aside their differences and express unity and solidarity against the menace of terrorism and extremism so that a strong message could be sent to terrorists responsible for this heinous act.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chairman Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI, Anjum Nisar demanded from the government to immediately issue orders for the execution of hundreds of terrorists imprisoned in Pakistani jails.

He also sought for a stringent strategy to stop infiltration of foreign terrorists into Pakistan.

"Peshawar school incident was a sheer conspiracy against Pakistan and the government must adopt zero tolerance policy towards terrorism," he said.

Anjum Nisar also extended Karachi Chamber's full support and assistance to the bereaved families during this difficult time and also to the government and armed forces in their quest to completely eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.

Senior Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Ibrahim Kasumbi, Vice President KCCI, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan, Former Presidents KCCI, Haroon Agar, A.Q. Khalil and Majyd Aziz along with KCCI Managing Committee members attended the candlelight memorial.

It was organized to pay tribute to the martyred children, express solidarity with bereaved families, support Operation Zarb-e-Azb and send a strong message to terrorists and banned militant outfits.

Senior Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Ibrahim Kasumbi mentioned that Karachi Chamber has lit up 146 candles to express deep grief over the incident and they, on behalf of entire business community of Karachi.

He also underscored the need to identify failures and loopholes on priority basis in order to avoid such incidents in future.

Vice President KCCI, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan said that Peshawar School carnage was clearly an attempt to weaken the courage and strength of the entire nation but this barbaric incident has united the entire nation.

Former President KCCI, A. Q. Khalil, in his remarks, said that he had contacted President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain so that National Awards could be conferred on all the martyred of Peshawar School incident who lost their lives.

He also underscored the need for coordinated efforts between the government, armed forces and others to completely wipe out terrorism threats being suffered by Pakistanis since 9/11.
