imagePESHAWAR: Former Deputy Speaker, National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi said on Thursday that non- appearance of Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf's Members National Assembly (MNAs) in the Chamber of Speaker National Assembly to verify their signatures individually showed their non-seriousness towards resigning from their seats.

"The Office of Speaker National Assembly is the fourth highest forum of the country in respect of dignity and protocol and PTI MNAs should have appeared in the Speakers Chamber individually if they were interested in resignation from their seats," he told APP.

"By asking the Speaker to come and verify the signatures collectively is against the parliamentary norms and decorum of the Speaker Office," he remarked.

The non-appearance of PTI MNA in the Speaker Chamber showed that they were not interested in their resignations and wanted a face-saving in eyes of public for their wrong taken decision.

He said the stance adopted by the Speaker National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq regarding verification of resignations was totally correct and as per rules of business of the assembly and constitution," he said.

On one side, he said, PTI leadership was making hue and cry of resignations from the Container but failed to appear in the Speakers Chamber, showing complete contradiction in their claims and actions and stand fully exposed in eyes of masses.

"If PTI MNAs did not want to appear in the Speakers Office, they can confirm their resignations by announcing it on the floor of Parliament as done by the senior parliamentarian Javed Hashim," Kundi said.

He said PTI was divided into two groups over the issue of resignations due to the negative politicking of PTI Chief Imran Khan. Faisal Kundi said there was a growing concept among the PTI legislators who were against quitting the NA seats whereas self interested elements want them to quit the parliament for their own gains.

The PTI leadership also knows that if they allow their members to appear individualy before the Speaker NA they might get a severe blow as according to some political pundits many of them may take a U turn.

However, he said PTI was given mandate by people and should respect it. He said PPP wants that PTI should play a positive role in electoral reforms and strengthening democracy. He said PTI wants face and urged Govt to re-open dialogue with PTI and address issues under the ambit of the constitution.

He expressed the hope that PTI leadership like Dr Tahriul Qadri would soon end their sit and come into mainstream of national politics.
