ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned hearing of a case regarding offshore companies of PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen till Tuesday (May 30).

A three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab heard the case filed by Hanif Abbasi of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seeking disqualification of the PTI leaders over concealing of assets before Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

During hearing of the case, the bench found serious discrepancies in the money trail provided by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan regarding the purchase of more than 300 kanals in Banigala. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar raised nine questions regarding Imran Khan's money trail.

The bench questioned how the PTI chief's agent Rashid Khan paid the seller nine months before having received the amount from Jemima Khan.

Further, the bench not only raised questions over the construction documents, but also asked Khan to provide complete records of Jemima's bank statement, as details regarding how she transferred the amount to Rashid's account.

Unsatisfied with the revenue record regarding the transfer of land in Jemima's name, the bench asked Khan how he would reconcile the record.

Questions were also raised over PTI Chief Imran Khan's failure to disclose his ownership of an offshore company in 2002 nomination papers.

The court asked the ECP to submit complete records of PTI's foreign funding case.

The CJP remarked that the court would go to any extent to find the truth in the case.

Further, the bench directed PTI counsel Naeem Bukhari to provide assistance over how offshore companies are being formed.

Naeem Bukhari counsel for Imran Khan informed the court that Imran Khan was filing his tax returns since 1981 and pleaded the court to summon income tax record of his client.

He said that one pound sterling was equal to Rs 20 in 1983. He said that Imran Khan did not file tax returns during 1971 to 1981.

The counsel for Hanif Abbasi apprised the court that Imran Khan contested first election in 1997.

The court observed that if it found necessary then documents would be sought.

Justice Bandial asked to submit evidence that Niazi Services Limited did not own any property except London flat.

Naeem Bukhari said that Imran Khan bought London with income generated from playing cricket.

He said that Imran Khan has submitted affidavit that he did not own any other offshore company except Niazi Services Limited.
