IS 'executes' at least 15 civilians in Mosul: officials

BAGHDAD: Militants from the Islamic State group posing as liberating security forces killed at least 15 civilians who welcomed them in central Mosul, officials said Tuesday.

Wearing police uniforms, they entered parts of the Old City on Monday pretending to be federal forces as a way of checking the residents' reaction and sowing fear among the population, the Joint Operations Command and a local official said.
