president-Zardari-UAE-NatioISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari On Sunday attended the reception hosted by UAE ambassador Mr. Eisa Abdullah on the occasion of 41 National Day of the UAE.

 

The reception was also attended by federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, politicians, business community and large number of people from different walks of life.

 

National anthems of the both the countries were also played on this occasion while a documentary highlighting financial assistance from UAE following 2005 earthquake and flood affected areas and reconstruction was also shown.

 

UAE government helped in reconstruction of infrastructure, schools and hospitals in Swat and other areas.

 

A cake was cut jointly by President Zardari and UAE ambassador to mark independence day of UAE.

 

The guests were served with many types of local and traditional dishes.

 

Traditional dances of the UAE were also presented on this occasion. Spokesperson to President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that according to prepared remarks of President Asif Ali Zardari, the President said Pakistan and UAE enjoy a very close and cordial relationship, adding that deep rooted relations between the two countries are bounded by common faith and cultural affinities.

 

The spokesperson said that expressing delight at the upward trajectory in Pak-UAE relations, the President said that during the past five years the bilateral ties have grown from strength to strength in all spheres of cooperation.

 

He said that the President said the regular exchange of high level bilateral visits has remained the hallmark of the close ties between the two countries.  The spokesperson said that UAE is Pakistan's largest trading partner in the Middle East with bilateral trade of over seven billion dollars.

 

The President appreciated the assistance extended by UAE during natural disaster.  The President said he was pleased to be at the celebrations of the National Day of the brotherly country of the United Arab Emigrates.

 

The Spokesperson said the President on the occasion extended his best wishes and heartiest felicitations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the UAE,".

 

He also congratulated the people of UAE on the auspicious occasion of the 41st National Day of their country.  The President said, "We greatly admire the wise and visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan."

 

He said the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has taken UAE to new heights of social and economic development.

 

It is the vision of His Highness that UAE today is a major economic and political player in the region, President remarked.

 

The President said the world recognizes UAE's important role in the peace and stability of the region.  "We deeply appreciate the soft corner which Sheikh Khalifa has for Pakistan," the President said.

 

The President while noting the presence of large number of Pakistani expatriates in UAE , said that over one million Pakistanis are living and working there and making significant contributions to the economy of the UAE.

 

The President thanked the people and government of UAE for welcoming Pakistanis to their country and expressed confidence that this human bridge between our two countries would continue to grow and strengthen with every passing day.
