imageFamous business tycoon Malik Riaz has announced a prize of Rs1 million to Muhammad Waseem Khan, who has won the title and became Pakistan’s first World Boxing Council Silver flyweight champion.

Waseem defeated Jether Oliva of Philippines in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday. Riaz wish the 28-year old boxer would continues earning honours for the country while announcing the prize money.

Waseem belongs to Quetta and is named as Falcon, is the only Pakistani boxer participating in the professional circuit. He made a move to professional boxing after being dishearten with the Pakistan Boxing Federation’s negligence and ignorance towards the boxers.

While promising his fans, Waseem reveals that he has his eyes set on the WBC title and there is a lot to come. The 28-year-old had a 100 percent knockout record before the spell including three knockouts in three professional fights but Oliva was more skilled and experienced boxer, with 31 fights to his name.

The judges unanimously declared the Quetta-based boxer as the winner, after his fight against his opponent for 12 rounds.

The 28-year-old boxer considered the fight as the most important fight of his life, as he wanted to prove that Pakistani boxers can be successful in achieving any title and can make a name for themselves despite all the odds.

Earlier, according to a local news channel, Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri also congratulated the Quetta-based boxer on his remarkable achievement. Furthermore, the provincial sports minister announced Rs 0.5 million for the 28-year-old on his fourth professional boxing win.

Waseem said that he is hoping that the mindset and attitude towards boxing changes after his win but vowed to carry on with his career even if it does not.
