Pakistan's head coach Mickey Arthur has praised fast bowler Mohammad Amir, due to play his first Test since being convicted in a spot-fixing case on the team’s last tour to England in 2010.
According to the Guardian, the former South African said, “He served his time, and he has done it. I had Amir in the PSL, he was a fantastic professional. Other stuff is not relevant to me. The stuff that’s relevant to me is making Mohammad Amir the best he can possibly be as a cricketer”, quoted Arthur,
Amir will return to England six years after a spot-fixing scandal in a Lord’s Test resulted in bans and jail sentences for the then teenage bowler and his former team-mates Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif.
With four major series for the side over the next eight months, speaking about the upcoming tour of England, during the meeting, the newly appointed coach gave his professional opinion to lift teams’ performance during the tour of England.
However, after the England tour, Pakistan are scheduled to play West Indies, New Zealand and Australia - Arthur has set his sights on identifying players who fit in with the long-term vision of taking the team to No. 1 across formats.
Pakistan will play four Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20 international in England between 14 July and 7 September.
