imageISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that the Deceased Employees Package announced by the Prime Minister in respect of Federal government servants was just a signature away from implementation.

The National Assembly adopted a resolution, demanding immediate steps for implementation of deceased employees package as announced by the Prime Minister in respect of Federal Government Servants.

Earlier, when the Speaker of the National Assembly was informed by the Parliamentary Secretary Rana Afzal that the package was already with the Prime Minister Secretariat for final signatures, so there is no need for adopting the resolution, the speaker remarked that unless it is signed, the resolution can be adopted.

Talking about the package, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab informed the house that this was a comprehensive package and would benefit the families of those who expire during service.

According to the package, the bereaved family of those deceased under service would be provided full pay and allowance of the deceased employee till the date of the retirement and their children would be facilitated with free education. Such families could also avail the facility of having government residence.

Sheikh Aftab said that one child of the deceased may be given government job also.

Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Afzal Khan informed the house that Prime Minister would soon give approval to the package, offering three times more financial benefits compared to the similar package introduce in 2006.

He informed the house that there were two packages, one each for civil and security institutions both meant to provide relief to the families of the deceased employees.

Earlier, while presenting the resolution, Tahira Aurangzeb said that the children of deceased were facing hardships, so the government should take immediate steps to announce this package.

Shafqat Mehmood while commenting on the resolutions said that the domain of this package should be expanded and all those security personnel who have laid down their lives in fight against terrorism should be included in it.

Dr. Azra said that the children of those employees who die during service should be made wards of the state to secure their future.

The National Assembly adopted resolutions for establishing a women University in Buner and construction of new water reservoirs in order to control the shortage of water.

The house also adopted resolution demanding strict immediate action against the sale of counterfeit drugs/ medicines in federal capital and steps to prevent the hepatitis in the country.
