Published February 9, 2019

Fulfilling his promise to make Pakistan clean and green, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the 'Plant for Pakistan' drive on Saturday at Balloki, Nankana, Punjab.

To mark the '10 Billion Tree Plantation Drive', PM Khan planted a sapling at the forest in Balloki. Addressing the ceremony the premier acknowledged Deputy Commissioner Nankana Raja Mansoor Ahmed who had reclaimed the mafia encroached land.

The premier invited the youth to come forward and help make Pakistan green. He said that under this drive, the government will plant 10 Billion trees across the country. PM Khan said that 70 percent of the country's  forests have been cut down in the past few years. He added that Pakistan's forests should be protected at any cost.

While speaking about the country's current situation like as inflation, price hikes and economic disparity, PM Khan said that these economic problems were caused by the actions of the previous governments in the last 10 years.

Earlier the premier had posted on his Twitter handle saying that through the plantation drive, the government was reclaiming mafia encroached land. He said they were converting the land into forests and wild life parks for' our future generations to fight climate change and pollution'.

Deputy Commissioner Nankana Raja Mansoor Ahmed said that 10,000 saplings will be planted by 2,500 school children along with the premier to launch the tree plantation campaign. This is the first time that a forest will be built there.
