Russian inflation accelerates to 4.2pc in 2018

MOSCOW: Russia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.2 percent in 2018 compared with a 2.5 percent increase in 2017, the statistics service's preliminary data showed Saturday.

Annual inflation in December accelerated in line with a consensus forecasts of analysts in a Reuters poll, exceeding the central bank's 4.0 percent for the first time since June 2017.

Month on month, inflation picked up to 0.8 percent in December from 0.5 percent in November.
