imagePakistan newly appointed T20I skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is flying high in the shortest format of the game. The leader enjoys a 100pc winning record while leading his side in all three matches of T20.

Former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif has especially praised Sarfraz’s leadership ability in addition he admired the all-round display by the Men in Green.

According to Express Tribune, “Sarfraz is a born leader. His domination on the field shows and he has great camaraderie with his players,” said former captain Rashid Latif, who also added that the wicketkeeper has what it takes to lead the team in the other two formats as well.

“The West Indian team lacked quality, especially with the unavailability of their senior players and the last minute change in the coaching staff — Phil Simmons removal,” Latif told The Express Tribune. “Yet Pakistan must be praised for their performance since they dominated each of the three games and never relinquished their grip on the visitors.”

Both Pakistan and West Indies are known for their unpredictability, and when it comes to shorter-format of the game, the two teams have contrasting stories. While the West Indies are the current world champions in T20 cricket, Pakistan are seldom seen putting up their solid performances in the shortest format.

However, the story changed after Pakistan started their winning streak run under new T20I captain Sarfraz Ahmed as they beat World T20 champions West Indies by eight wickets in the third T20 match to complete a rare whitewash in the series at Abu Dhabi on late Tuesday, while in the first and second T20 Pakistan defeated West Indies by nine wickets and 16 runs, respectively.

Pakistan meanwhile remains at number seven in the ICC T20I Team Rankings. New Zealand is the number one ranked team, followed by India and South Africa.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will play the three ODI series against West Indies from September 30 while the Test series will begin from October 13.
