DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Election Tribunal Tuesday disposed of an appeal against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman filed by his rival Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) candidate Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan for want of evidence.
Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan had challenged his defeat in NA-24 Dera Ismail Khan, leveling different sort of charges on the JUI-F chief, in the Election Tribunal set up by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). In the elections, the PPP candidate had around 67,000 votes, while Maulana Fazlur Rehman bagged 92,000 votes.
In the Election Tribunal, Jamiat Lawyers Forum President Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq Advocate and General Secretary Jamal Abdun Nasir Advocate defended the JUI-F chief.
