european-stocks-4002LONDON: Europe's main stock markets weakened in initial deals on Tuesday, with sentiment weighed down by persistent concerns over Cyprus.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top companies slid 0.12 percent at 6,450.46 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index shed 0.38 percent to 7,980.54 and in Paris the CAC 40 dipped 0.32 percent to 3,813.10 points.

Asian markets mostly rebounded on Tuesday as concerns over the eurozone abated on news that Cyprus was reworking a controversial savings levy.

European equities had fallen and the euro fell under $1.30 on Monday on news that Cyprus might tax bank deposits as part of a controversial international bailout.
