GHALANAI: Over 50000 people have fled the Mohmand agency operation underway against the Taliban rebels since January 27 last, an official of Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) told APP.

Iftikhar Aziz Agency Protection Officer FDMA said, influx of the affected people in the IDP camps continuing.Up-till now 3749 families registered themselves with the registration authorities at the IDP camps in Mohmand agency near Afghan border.

Women and Children constitute major chunk of the affected and registered at the IDP camps.The number of children is over 15000 alone, Aziz said.

Big chunk of the affected have also taken shelter with their relatives and friends in Peshawar and other areas.1500 tents are functional in the IDP camps. 2603 families comprising 23200 individuals registered at Kashmir Kore IDP camp and 1146 families at Danishkool camp.

The security forces are using combat aircraft, heavy artillery and ground forces to target militants in Saafi, Khwezai, Pindyali and Ambar areas of Mohmand Agency bordering Afghanistan. Nearly 100 militants have been killed so far in the operation, officials said.
