KARACHI: Colorado victim is taking a legal action against the theatre, Warner Bros. and Holmes’ doctor.
Torrence Brown Jr. survived the Aurora shooting that left 12 dead including Brown’s friend and 58 others injured.
Brown’s Attorney Donald Karpel told media that Brown is “suing due to the trauma he endured during the event. The three defendants - the theatre, Holmes’ doctors and Warner Bros. are all being targeted in the complaint.”
Shooting suspect James Holmes, 24, opened fire at the theatre in the midnight screening of the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ last Friday.
Karpel said the theatre is at fault for their negligence and not having an alarmed and guarded emergency door. Holmes reportedly left through the emergency doors to retrieve guns from his car before opening fire into the theatre.
The attorney said that Holmes’ doctors are also at fault for not monitoring him properly since he was on medications.
The claim against Warner Bros. says that Dark Knight Rises is particularly a violent film that Holmes has partially mimicked. The nature of the film had many people believe that the initial gas canister thrown into the theatre was part of film and not a beginning of a massacre.
Brown’s lawsuit comes just as the film hit an all-time record at the France premiere of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. The film debuted in US and 17 other markets last weekend.
