Pakistani actor faces backlash after his insensitive joke over child molestation
At the 5th HUM Awards, actor/director/comedian Yasir Hussain went a little too far with his inconsiderate joke over child abuse.
Yasir Hussain was given a pivoted job of hosting the grand gala but the comedian brought upon sheer shame and disappointed. The show host delivered the award for ‘Best actor in a Negative role’ to Ahsan Khan for his portrayal of a child molester in the much recognized drama ‘Udaari’, Yasir comment upon giving the awards stunned many as he said:
“Itna khobsurat child molester, kash main bhi bacha hota… (Such a handsome child molester, I wish i was a child as well.)”
The actor received some serious backlash from human activist and Pakistani celebrities like Jibran Nasir, Hadiqa Kiani etc.
Hadiqa Kiana felt lucky she left the awards before this took place; the singer even questioned the celebrities who had found humor in this disgusting joke. Kiani took twitter as her outlet and said:
“I guess I was lucky enough to have left the award show before this disgusting joke was cracked. This is exactly what’s wrong with our society, people think its okay to stoop so low and speak in such a foul manner. I’m not putting the blame exclusively on Mr Yasir Hussain, but on everyone in the room who sat in that room and laughed along… you all deserved to be questioned.”
“Staying silent in the face of rape culture is bad enough…but to laugh along and encourage it? Despicable. God, when especially honouring Ahsan and the whole Udaari team for shedding light on such an issue…all of it was just tainted by that joke. So, in case you need to be reminded, child molestation is not a joke, it is a serious crime that violates BASIC human rights. Disgusted.”

Jibran Nasir who is known to be outspoken couldn’t stop himself from discussing this issue, the lawyer tweeted a series of tweets:
“Last night #Hum Awards when Ahsan Khan won for #Udaari, host Yasir Hussain joked "Itna khobsurat child molester, kash main bhi bacha hota,” followed by:
“Even more outrageously than the joke was the fact that majority of the attendees laughed at the joke despite their exposure and education.”

The actor and comedian soon realized his mistake as he issued an apology on social media platforms clarifying that he stands against child abuse and his joke was unintentional but the fire had already done its damage.
