imageQUETTA: The Provincial Election Commission Balochistan Saturday here announced official results of Balochistan Local Bodies' Elections. Election Commission of Pakistan would notify the results within two or three days.

Addressing a news conference at the Election Commission Office here, Provincial Election Commissioner, Syed Sultan Bayazeed said that the official results compiled by the EC Balochistan has been sent to the Eelection Commission of Pakistan, Islamabad, that would issue notification of the final and official results within two and three days.

He, however, said that that according to the official results, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl won 964 seats, Pashtoonkhawa Milli Awami Party,765 seats, National Party, 562 seats and Pakistan Muslim League-N, 472 seats in the Polls.

"However, the local government elections yet to be conducted in three districts including Harnai, Turbat and Awaran where these could not be held on December, 7," he said, adding that schedule would be issued in this regard soon.

He said that local bodies' elections were held for 4,036 seats including 472 seats of District Councils, 772 of Metropolitan, Municipal Corporations and Municipal Committees and 2,842 of Union Councils.

He further said that 284 candidates have been elected-unopposed for seats of Municipal Corporations and Municipal Committees and 2,120 for union councils.

He said that local bodies' elections were conducted for Metropolitan Corporation Quetta where 21 independent candidates won seats out of total 58 and PkMAP 18 seats, PML-N 05 seats, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Hazara Democratic Party and Balochistan National Party-M three seats, respectively, adding that each JUI-F and JUI-N won one seat.

He said that election for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman would be held after the elections on seats reserved for minorities, women, labours and peasants.

He said that 33 percent seats were reserved for women in the local government institutions.

"The 2,330 seats are reserved for women and 744 each for farmers, laborers and minorities, respectively," he said.

He said that the elected candidates would have to take their oath within a month after the issuance of the notification by the ECP Islamabad.
